CHARLIE QUEZADA (Santo Domingo, 1986)

My work has focused on the study of landscape seen across boundaries, understanding humanity's historical propensity to contain nature at its convenience. My interest in these topics arises from the daily interaction between nature and architecture, as well as the appropriation of natural spaces that result in interference with the Caribbean landscape.

I have also been interested in analyzing how industrial materials and resources refer to an artificial nature to recreate dystopian spaces and, in this way, think about the tropical imaginary. My work highlights feelings of alienation within a context that is familiar to me, which in turn shows the tension between two elements: the spaces we create and those assigned to us at birth, both equally necessary for the constitution of identity and artistic production.
